This Years Love are a Pop Rock group from Durham UK.

They have now released their first album ‘Take the Stage’ & they have dedicated this to their daughters.

The band’s creative style was triggered, for Gary (singer/songwriter) & Gav (Drummer), by the birth of their children: "I really enjoyed writing this album, but the biggest inspiration was the idea of having an album solely dedicated to both my own, and Gav's, baby girls. It's something they can keep forever."

"Anyone who has been to see us, or heard the album, knows our music is about friends, family & enjoying music for what it is."

The band returned to their roots, sifted through their various musical tastes and stripped it all down with acoustic guitars and amps turned off. This way, they developed their own unique sound and style for the ‘Take the Stage’ album.

Each individual member of the band came with his own musical tastes and experience: Gary was the lead singer in a funk rock band for a number of years, and also toured in heavier genres from early 2005.

When it came to recording Take the Stage, the band didn’t stray too far away from home. Gary wrote all of the songs in a spare room, which is now his second daughter's bedroom, and recorded the album in C90 Studios with family friend, Alan Le Patourel. As well as owning these studios, Alan also owns Dot 45 Records.

This Years Love started recording their first album in early 2010, with the song “Some Say” filling the room with its fun fuelled pop-rock sound; this set the tone for the rest of the album.

“I have loved having the ‘no holds barred’ freedom when writing the album: I think our individual experiences over the years come through in the music. I'm sure, to people listening to some of the tracks on the album, it’s obvious that I have been massively influenced by Alex Band and The Calling. In truth, I'm quite proud of that.
